Sunday 8/28 This was most of my dinner Sunday night.   I also make frozen berry milkshakes before the popcorn.  Yum! Monday 8/29 Sweet Pea sat down for her first day of kindergarten.  She was watching the welcome video her teacher made.   Tuesday 8/30 After her school work was done, we put together just about every puzzle in our house.  That's a lot of puzzles.  We did them together...and then she wanted to do them by herself.  Wednesday 8/31 Our shadows on the walk back from dropping the big girls off at school.  Thursday 9/1 We went to the mall and they have these huge hanging baskets of flowers all over.  Sweet Pea was running and jumping up to smell them.  I asked her to let me take a picture of her sniffing them.  And she couldn't stop giggling.  Friday 9/2 Look!! Sharing!! Among siblings!!  I took them to Target for slurpees after school.  Saturday 9/3 Me and the oldest.  We were waiting for T to get some m...

You Capture - Ordinary Moments

Image
I haven't participated in You Capture it seems like FOREVER.  I can't even tell you the last time I did.  But I'm going to try and get back on the horse, so to speak, and get 'er done.   My ordinary moments are only ordinary in the fact that you wouldn't know how extraordinary they actually are unless you know us.   The second day of school.  (I forgot to take pictures of the first day!) The ordinary moment is just that.  The beginning of a new school year.  All kids have them in some form or fashion.  The extraordinary part of this?  This was their first day heading to a traditional school.  They were excited and nervous at this massive change.  They came home smiling and happy and wanting to share all the details of their days.  Which warms my heart.

Cleaning/School

So, I've had this blog for, what, a month or so? One of my first posts was about re-arranging furniture. Well, I did it again. My office is in a totally different configuration. I'm trying something different because next week school starts, and I want things as neat and organized as I can get before the chaos starts. I'm looking forward to it, but I'm feeling a little daunted because this will be the first year that I'm officially working with 2 kids. The end of last year, I did work with M, and I'm glad I did. She is going to totally bypass the kindergarten curriculum and jump into the first grade stuff. I know some who don't want to push their kids when they are young, and I don't necessarily see it as pushing. I see it as giving them the opportunity to shine. I think having them in a good Montessori preschool in Idaho showed me that handing over the reigns to the kids in a controlled environment leads to more motivation on their part. We had a bad ...

Rearranging and school

I was a military brat. We moved about every 2 years until I was 11. Since I graduated high school I have moved everywhere between 1 year and 4 years between at least houses if not cities. One of my quirks is that I have to rearrange the furniture in at least one of the rooms of my house every few months. Even when I wasn't physically moving, I have still felt the need to change the look of my environment. I don't need big changes, but just looking at furniture in a different place gives me a fresh new feeling. I just spent the last 2 hours rearranging my office/school room. As I said before M, my middle girl, is officially starting kindergarten in the fall. She has her desk and it has been smack dab in the middle of the room, which looked odd. So, now I have what sorta looks like a school room. My desk is facing the other desks. The girls rightly assumed that this way I can keep an eye on them when they are doing their work. *smirk* My girls think that I've been ...
