Coast to Coast

So I did it.  Tuesday the Disneyland Half Marathon opened for registration.  I was considering doing the Dumbo Dash, which is the 10k on Saturday and the half on Sunday.  But it sold out in less than an hour.  By this morning the half marathon was sold out.  Thankfully Barb mentioned yesterday afternoon that the half was already at 75% full, so I just bit the bullet and signed up.  I'm so glad I did.  I figure this is truly my only chance to get my Coast to Coast medal.  With a huge change in mentality that has happened for me in the last six months, I've realized that I need to plan better for what I want in 15-20 years down the line.  I equate this realization to how some people just all of a sudden have that moment where they get the eating right and exercise and it stops feeling like an uphill battle.  I'm in a better place emotionally and intellectually.  I've gained ownership over what I want in my life and for my future. ...

Sunday 5/6 Start line for my first half marathon since Tough Mudder.  Monday 5/7 The discrepancies in egg production.  Tuesday 5/8 Oh my girl! Wednesday 5/9 Thinking I need to make some of this.   It was soooo yummy! Thursday 5/10 Personally I think "The New Rules of Lifting for Women" is doing me well.  Friday 5/11 This is a picture of a new chick and one four weeks old.   Sweet Pea is holding them both.   I still am in awe of how fast these chicks grow.  Saturday 5/12 Sass wanted Starbucks.  We went during frap happy hour.  She bought mine as an early Mother's Day present.

Sunday 4/15 It was a beautiful morning for a 10-mile run.  Monday 4/16 My girl was loving on the chicks.   (They barely have any yellow on them already!) Tuesday 4/17 "Mom! Look! I made them into a triangle!" (Fun with sleepy baby chicks). Wednesday 4/18 And yes...baby chicks like to snuggle.  Thursday 4/19 Oh yes. Blue sky, mountains, and clouds! Oh my! Friday 4/20 Woke up to this sweet thing still sound asleep.   She never sleeps later than me.  But it was the perfect way to start my day.  Saturday 4/21 I love this little guy.  I'm not a knickknack person, but he was so cute! My mom bought him for me for an early birthday present.   Can't wait to display him.

Sunday 4/1 My reflection post an 8 mile training run.  Rock N River half marathon here I come! Monday 4/2 My rainbow manicure courtesy of the 6yo.  Tuesday 4/3 24 beautiful fresh eggs.  Wednesday 4/4 My Sass.  Deep in concentration on her current book.  Thursday 4/5 Have I mentioned I really like some cinnamon whiskey?  Gives me warm fuzzies when the wind is howling.  Which lately is a lot.  :) Friday 4/6 My little owl reminding me to have patience.  Saturday 4/7 This was a 5K I ran.  It was actually 3.2 miles.  And my time was actually 28:00 as I hit start and put my phone away before the gun went off.   So impressed with my time.  and because this was too funny Cat vs. Chicken.  We've concluded that since there are 12 more chickens out there,  the cat would lose. He's only tough due to the glass door between them.

2011 - A Day In The Life - Week 50

Sunday 12/11 Brought this tree home wrapped.  Got it out of the back of my truck.  *Carried* it into the house.  Sawed off the trunk. Put it in the stand.  Unwrapped it.   #soloChristmas Monday 12/12 This? Makes me laugh.   Tuesday 12/13 I'm a running again.  I'm a happy.  Wednesday 12/14 Grilled cheese on sourdough.  YUM! Thursday 12/15 Build-a-Bear birthday.  Friday 12/16 *sigh* Early Christmas present for the big girls.  Unlimited texting plans FTW.  Saturday 12/17 I was at Target.   Holiday Flamingo?  This one baffled me.   We are in Nevada.  There are no flamingos that need to be holiday-fied.  Weird.

Sunday 11/27 My first 2 miles post ankle breakage!  Monday 11/28 I ranged between saying this in my head as  "Dyno-MITE!" or  beginning to sing Taio Cruz.  Tuesday 11/29 I like these.  Thanks Meegan and Tara! ! Wednesday 11/30   The clouds were on fire.  This picture doesn't even come close to capturing it.  Thursday 12/1 The 5yo was making roads.  Out of paper towels.  And then surprisingly cleaned up everything.   Friday 12/2 My girls and my niece with Santa at the restaurant we ate dinner at.  Saturday 12/3 I got this shirt back in 2007 at the Shakespeare Festival at Lake Tahoe.  I love it for many reasons.  First? What it says.  Second? when I bought it, it was too tight (couldn't try it on). My consistent running has done me good.

Burst Into Summer - August 31st

Image
Well, here we are at the end of another challenge.  We Burst into Summer, and I sure hope that everyone is ending the summer a little healthier, maybe a little (or a lot) lighter, and motivated to keep going into the fall.  I know I've been waning a bit on my motivation, but in the end I know that I want to get on my treadmill or head out for that long run or do my strength...I do still have Tough Mudder coming up in...OMG... 17 days.  *twitch twitch*  But I'm excited about it at the same time.  I rarely get myself worked up over a race or an event.   Ok, there was that freak out last December over 26.2 but we won't talk about that. Maybe it's because life has gotten busier and more chaotic, but I know I can do the mileage of Tough Mudder.  Will it be hard at elevation with an elevation gain of 2300 ft? Most definitely.  But I think with 20 obstacles over 10 miles that there will be enough "rest" time in between the actual miles that I'm not worri...

Sunday 8/7 An old key that goes to a hutch that was T's mom's. Tuesday 8/8 My birthday cake that my girls and my mom made for me. Chocolate with mini chocolate chips and chocolate cream cheese frosting. YUMMY! Tuesday 8/9 On my way to meet a friend for dinner. Wednesday 8/10 She was reading. She always looks so serious. Thursday 8/11 These were plaques I found at Target. The different takes made me giggle. Friday 8/12 Me and my snuggler in the morning. She usually sneaks in after T leaves in the morning. Saturday 8/13 My new trail shoes. I'm hoping they work for me!

I'm a horrible blogger friend

Life seems to have gotten out of control since May.  I feel horrible that I'm not commenting on blogs like I used to, but I am reading everyone's that I usually read.  And in the past week I've gotten two lovely shout-outs from two people that have fabulous blogs and maybe one day I will get to meet them in person. The first is Erin .  She pretty much rawks.  I'm sure if you read my blog, you know who she is.  She was the Sister Spotlight this week.  She is a relatively new runner, but a couple of weeks ago she ran her first 5K and knocked it out of the water.  I'm flattered that she named me in her sisterhood post as a good cheerleader.  I'm fairly humble in my knowledge of running.  I pretty much knows what has worked for me and if someone asks for advice, I'm more than willing to help. Because, people, running? As a sport? Is supposed to be FUN!  I know some of you think me crazy.  But running keeps me from going crazy.  E...

2011 - A Day In The Life - Week 22

As I sit down to post this week's pictures on the eve before #insaneroadtrip, I'm wondering how I will survive! :)  But I know we will.  And we will have fun.  Despite the crazy moments.  I am going to try and post if nothing else a couple pictures from my phone each day here and then maybe do a big summary of different pictures for the whole week of those I take with the good camera.  I hope you're along for the ride because it's going to be a crazy one.  You'll see some familiar faces here throughout my trip.  Well, familiar if you you've been reading for any length of time.  And without further ado...this week's pictures. Sunday 5/29 My swimmer girl at her first long-course meet.  She swam the 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle. Monday 5/30 T found this shirt at Kohl's. It made me giggle.  Tuesday 5/31 My sweet T waiting with me.  Wednesday 5/31 The day started out like this.  and ended like this.  Thursday 6/1 Freshly cu...
