2010 - A Day in the Life - Week 37

Sunday Family day at the Idaho Air National Guard.  I've never seen an inflatable climbing wall before.  The 9yo didn't hesitate on climbing to the top... in a skirt. It was about 20 feet up.  Monday (fail) Tuesday A day at the park.  Getting in my H2O. Wednesday It's a little blurry, but the look in Pumpkin's eye and her perky ears?  It's better than the picture taken just before it with her ears all twitchy. Thursday My monthly board package.  (Shh. Don't tell. It's still in the wrapper. Must get it done.) Friday Sweet Pea and I in the outdoor backseat of a 1931 something-or-other that was at the  Show and Shine benefitting my niece.  The car in focus and us out of focus is what happens when you hand your camera to a random car guy.  (picture #2 - I'm including it because, well, my blog and I did miss Monday) This is our head gymnastics coach's cars.  He races cars.  McKenna used to go to their gym when she was SmartyPants' age an...

Sunday Yum-o wine.   Monday What time I got done working. And yes, technically it was Tuesday.  Tuesday Sass at her second meet. Love how the water is still pouring off of her as she comes out of the water. Wednesday (fail) Thursday Sweet Pea was having so much fun launching herself in the kiddie pool.  Essentially belly flopping into the water.  And because I missed Wednesday, here's one of SmartyPants hesitantly stepping off the diving board. Friday The prep for my 12-miler in the morning.  Saturday Sweet Pea at her t-ball game Saturday morning.  Love the faux-beaver look.

This week has been filled.  Not much time for extra picture taking.  But I did find these two. Thunderstorm clouds in front of the truck. Lighter, happier sky reflected in the mirror.  Mmm. Prophesy perhaps? And my 9yo.  Looking so big.  I wish she would quit wishing the moments away and enjoy things, like she was in this picture.  Dinner out with the family.  Check out everyone else's black and whites over at Beth's.

2010 - A Day in the Life - Week 28

Sunday A definite necessity after a day where T was gone for the weekend and the girls drove me crazy.  Monday Chalk and little hands.  (There is also a little crawly thing near her pointer finger that Sweet Pea was trying to pick up.) Tuesday Hard to see, but Sass can do the monkey bars all by herself.  This took so long for her to master.  Wednesday SmartyPants practicing a new vault.  Not bad form.  Thursday I love this picture of Smarty Pants at Lake Tahoe.   She rarely smiles big, happy, carefree smiles.  *love* Friday My girls with their very first race bigs on.  One down.  Many more to come.  Saturday This is what happens when your 1/4-Hispanic blood mixes with 4 hours of summer sun.

I must be doing *something* right

I haven't mentioned a bunch about it lately, but my oldest, the 9yo, she's a gymnast.  She and her four teammates (all 8 or 9yo) started competing this year.  As expected some of the girls are better at certain skills than others.  And of course, I'd be remiss to add that there is one girl (we'll call her Rose) who is just plain awesome.  She has the natural talent, the body type, and the drive to work hard and be the best.  At the last meet I was surprised that my 9yo got a higher score on the vault than Rose - because usually Rose has her chit together and kicks butt.  Anyway.  In the last month SmartyPants has come home from practice a couple of times saying that Rose and "Beth" have been talking about "Indy" and saying how she should just quit the team because she's not as good, and Indy is just going to hurt the team when competition start back up in the fall, etc.  In other words, being really catty.  SmartyPants was telling me about al...
