Halling Go To Alaska

I haven't participated in You Capture it seems like FOREVER.  I can't even tell you the last time I did.  But I'm going to try and get back on the horse, so to speak, and get 'er done.   My ordinary moments are only ordinary in the fact that you wouldn't know how extraordinary they actually are unless you know us.   The second day of school.  (I forgot to take pictures of the first day!) The ordinary moment is just that.  The beginning of a new school year.  All kids have them in some form or fashion.  The extraordinary part of this?  This was their first day heading to a traditional school.  They were excited and nervous at this massive change.  They came home smiling and happy and wanting to share all the details of their days.  Which warms my heart. 

Oh man, how I've missed You Capture.  I just have been in a slump and unmotivated to take pictures lately.  Which makes me sad, but when you're motivation escapes you, it's hard to find out why and then get back into the swing of things.  But I'm happy to report I've got pictures! From the outdoors!  Yay!! My self portrait in front of the Reno arch before my last half marathon.  It was a beautiful morning if not a bit on the chilly side... which in my opinion makes for the best runs.  My oldest girl at her gymnastics banquet.  I  love how the not only does the sun shine of her hair beautifully,  I actually caught a real smile.  They don't happen enough.  Love her.so.much.  Check out what other outdoorsy pictures were taken at Beth's .

When Beth announced "technology" as this week's challenge, I was originally going to take pictures of all the stuff in my house that has to do with technology.  And then I had a better idea.  I'm a bit of a pack rat/tree hugger.  I have most of the old technology in my house that I've acquired over the years.  So I thought I'd take us on an evolutionary path. First I bring you cells phones I'm missing my first cell phone ala end of 2001.  Sweet Pea was playing with it yesterday and now it's MIA.  It's a little blue early flip-type phone.  And now on to the cameras This is a 35mm film camera.  This camera took all of the Gymnast's pictures for the first two years of her life.  It's a good little camera.  Our first digital camera is not pictured.  It met a watery death when I handed it down to the kids.  Sweet Pea thought it looked dirty so she took the battery out and was giving it a bath with lots of soapy bubbles. L My maiden name begins with an "L".  It's a long one too.  But this last  week I inadvertently found some other "L"s that were worth sharing. Lashes And snowy limbs . Check out what other "L"s were found over at Beth's.  

Red.  It's a mighty fine color.  You'll find it on banners... (My girl's level 4 team - placed 3rd overall) In parks... (The little firetruck at the park.) And in the most common of places. (Love this perspective.  Pays to be short sometimes.)  Lots of reds will be seen over at Beth's .  Go check it out. 

Happy.   Winter coating my new sticker makes me happy. This little owl and the patience he inspires makes me happy. This floor? That belongs to my 10yo.  Who cleaned her room and found this floor... without being asked makes me extremely happy. Check out Beth's place for more things that make people happy!

I was quite excited about this challenge.  Since I was going to be at Disney World this past weekend (for a little thing called a marathon ), I figured there would be lots of fun doorways to capture.  I will admit that I forgot about the challenge for most of the day we spent at Epcot, but remembered in time to take these. My oldest two on the ferris wheel in Scheel's.  I love where I live. I'm in love with him.  This was a day that I remember fondly and with tears of happiness RIP, Gracie.
