Stylish?

Look!  A post that isn't about pictures!  Miracles do happen!  Well, this one is happening thanks to Tiffany at A Tall Drink of Life.  (So you might want to go say thanks. IJS.  She's a pretty awesome lady!)  But I sorta scoff at the "stylish" part of this award.  I've never considered myself stylish.  But maybe my pictures are stylish.  Or something.  But thank you, Tiffany.  You rawk my running socks and it's an honor to call you my friend.


There are a few "rules" that go along with receiving this award.

1. Give thanks!
and 
2.  Share something about myself. 

So the first part is done.  The second? Mmm. What would be interesting to know about  me that isn't already covered on my "100 things" page.  

  • I'm super excited for Sweet Pea to start kindergarten next year.  I can see signs of her leaving that toddler -without-an-attention-span stage and it thrills me to no end.  So that fact along with her joining her sisters next fall at home with us to do school doesn't scare me as much as it did last fall.
  • I miss running, but I'm hoping that my denseness is the problem and that I'll be back hitting lots of miles before you know it!
  • I'm always amazed that as a mother how very little control I have over my kids.  They really are their own little people with minds of their own.  Sometimes I forget this, I end up feeling like a bad mother - but I'm not.
  • My cats? They are crazy.  Especially Pumpkin.  She is part dog.  She loves her tummy rubbed and chases her tail for hours on end.  She makes me laugh.  
  • When I was growing up, I thought my dad had it all figured out.  He does for the most part, but he winged parenthood just like the rest of us.  
Okay.  I'm drawing a blank now.  Not sure if those things were interesting to you or not.  Ha! Maybe you didn't even read them.

    Aww, thanks so much! Sorry it took awhile to respond. I had to catch a plane and slow interwebs thwarted my efforts. But DOOD. You're totally stylin'. I mean hey, I love the new look for your blog!

    (So glad Sweet Pea's leaving the no-attention-span stage too, btw.)

You Capture - DOF

I loved this challenge.  I've been striving to find "the" depth of field picture that just speaks to me.  Luckily I had lots of opportunity this past weekend to find the pictures I wanted to.  On Saturday I boarded a bus to California's Amador County wine country and visited 4 different wineries with a friend. These were so bright and beautiful and simple. The colors!! Perfection! I took about 20 pictures of this door trying to get this perspective.  I love this one.  This was another one that was may favorite of about 20.   I think it's the burst of orange.   I can't wait to see all the beautiful pictures everyone else is going to post over at Beth's.

You Capture - Best Shot

I suppose after two weeks of getting assignments and pictures that I *really* liked, it was time for me to struggle.  I wasn't taking any pictures that just spoke  to me.  But then again, it took me a long time to start taking pictures that I really liked. But I do have a couple that I think were my best for the week.  Hey, I've got an idea! Let me share them with you! This was taken on a hike the two older girls and I took last week.   And then we had our first harvest. One lone strawberry.  There are many more growing.  We are trying to keep the birds from nibbling on them before we get a chance to pick them.  Check out what other's thought was their best shot over at Beth's.

You Capture - Faces

Beth? Are you out there?  Because I loved this challenge.so.much.   I think I captured a lot of love here too.  Oh, how I love her sweet face! And check out the eyelashes!! I thought only boys had eyelashes like that! (Do you like the bedhead too?) He is one of my most favorite people!  This is my honey, my rock, my money-maker, the love of my life! (Yes, sappy. But after more than 15 years together I still like him!) This is the other "man" in my life.  This is Bear.   He is sweet and stubborn and very jealous when it comes to sharing me with T.   This is "my" girl (the middle child).  She is the only one who looks enough like me for it to be obvious that she's my kid. She is so sweet and full of generosity and love.  Did you see the letter she wrote me the other day? No?  Go here and see.   And last, but certainly not least.  Me.  A sweaty mess after running 5+ miles wearing my awesome Team In Training training T-shirt.  This is the face a happy runner.   (F
