#Insaneroadtrip day 2
Waking up in Vegas. Name that song. But I did it at 6 a.m. after being up until almost 1 a.m. Amazingly I wasn't exhausted. Coffee was had. Girls were dressed and fed. Sleeping bags restuffed. Truck reloaded. Hugs given. And we headed out to fill up the gas tank (and buy deodorant) and eastward-ho! Hoover Dam here we come!
I think I was more excited about it than the kids. I love me some nature but to see the massive creation by man melded with the beauty of the area is just amazing. And the bridge is complete. I haven't been there in 15 years. It didn't disappoint. Here's the view from the middle of the damn.

Here's the view from the middle of the bridge.

Yes. There is a nice walkway that goes all the across the bridge. I think I was the only one who was nervous. I don't do heights due to my vertigo. Aside from the amazing height of being able to look down onto the dam and the Colorado River, the wind was insane. I didn't feel comfortable trying to hold my phone up in the air to take a one-handed picture because I thought the wind might whip it out of my hands.
I think the girls enjoyed it. Did they whine a bit about the walking? Yeah. But they were pretty impressed with the massiveness of it all. After buying postcards, we headed back out on the road.
Stop #2? The south rim of the Grand Canyon. Four hours away. *sigh*.
There were potty breaks and gas stops and finally we made it. If you've never been to the Grand Canyon. It's breath-taking. I just wanted to sit in awe if it.

And then I noticed my first mom fail if the trip.

My white girl and a sunburn. *sigh*
We ended up in Prescott, AZ meeting with up Tiffany and her youngest. Check out the sunset.

(this is what happens when you hand the phone to the kid - crooked pictures.)
And I'm happy. The girls are doing great. Did they whine? Yes. This they argue? A bit. Did they appreciate what they saw? Most definitely. And that's all I can ask for on this adventure.
Tomorrow is hanging with Tiffany and ended up in Phoenix for the night. Nothing specific planned. Just spending time hanging out.

Sounds like a successful day to me! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteI agree about the awesomeness of the Hoover Dam and the bridge (only the bridge was only about 1/3 done when I saw it).
ReplyDeleteAs for the mom fail - now you know and she'll be fine.
