#insaneroadtrip day 23

Another early morning. After a horrible night's sleep. The kids didn't sleep well and so by default I didn't. I maybe had about 4 hours of interrupted sleep last night. So when I woke up at 4:45 with my alarm set for 5? I just decided to get up. We were out the door by 6 a.m. I'm nothing if not a well oiled machine. And off I go into the new morning light.


I didn't take many pictures today due to my exhaustion. We stopped in Lexington for breakfast. Ten minutes after getting back on the road the sky opened up and we got poured on. I like rain. And it rained on and off in varying degrees for the next couple hours.



I had my first meal at Panera. My broccoli cheese soup was quite yummy.


I was quite excited to be seeing my girl, Bari, though.



We shared some sweet tea vodka and hung out. I even got to meet the infamous Squirt. I may have been more smitten than she.



Tomorrow? Not exactly sure what's on the agenda tomorrow. And I'm okay with that. I get to hang out here so all is good.

    I ate at Panera yesterday, on the way back. It's so good!

You Capture - DOF

I loved this challenge.  I've been striving to find "the" depth of field picture that just speaks to me.  Luckily I had lots of opportunity this past weekend to find the pictures I wanted to.  On Saturday I boarded a bus to California's Amador County wine country and visited 4 different wineries with a friend. These were so bright and beautiful and simple. The colors!! Perfection! I took about 20 pictures of this door trying to get this perspective.  I love this one.  This was another one that was may favorite of about 20.   I think it's the burst of orange.   I can't wait to see all the beautiful pictures everyone else is going to post over at Beth's.

You Capture - Feet

So, my first thought was to take a picture of all the little feet in my house, from cats to dogs to kids.  And then I went on a little hike last Sunday as part of some prescribed quiet time.  It was lovely.  And it got me to thinking about where my feet tread in life. The reflection of my feet in the side of my truck after my run before my hike. I was planning on heading to a place I used to go in high school.  Right on the edge of town - less than 5 minutes from my house - there is a small area of rocks on the side of the mountain that I used to climb with a friend.  I wanted to sit on the top of those rocks and just listen to the silence.  And here is that spot.  Unfortunately, the people who live at the base of this hill obviously own the land up to the hill and put a fence al the way to the base of it.  So I drove up the dirt road a bit to the south of this spot and found a different spot.   Looking down at the town I grew up, it still lo...

You Capture - Best Shot

I suppose after two weeks of getting assignments and pictures that I *really* liked, it was time for me to struggle.  I wasn't taking any pictures that just spoke  to me.  But then again, it took me a long time to start taking pictures that I really liked. But I do have a couple that I think were my best for the week.  Hey, I've got an idea! Let me share them with you! This was taken on a hike the two older girls and I took last week.   And then we had our first harvest. One lone strawberry.  There are many more growing.  We are trying to keep the birds from nibbling on them before we get a chance to pick them.  Check out what other's thought was their best shot over at Beth's.
