#Insaneroadtrip day 5

As I sit to type this I am exhausted. Actually falling asleep in my chair. So blog and then sleep.

Today was pretty good. We got up, ate a bit and relaxed before heading over to pick up my cousin and then go out for brunch. It was delicious. Green chile breakfast burrito.



After wandering through old town Albuquerque and getting postcards, we picked up my uncle and headed out east to the Sandia mountains. My uncle knew of this place that thought we would enjoy.



This place was really cool. Lots of trinkety stuff along with random collections.




Such an eclectic mix. But fascinating.

Then we headed up to Sandia Crest. After sweating yesterday and the heat settling in for the day, the temperature at the top of the viewing spot was 57 with 20 mph winds. It was cold!

Inside the visitor's center we were told that there were friendly hummingbirds on the deck. So friendly in fact they would land on your finger while at the feeder. It was amazing!



Everyone got a chance. These pictures were all taken with my phone. I'm impressed. After we decided to quit freezing our tails off, we headed back down the mountain. I dropped my uncle off at his house and then came back here where the girls did my cousin's makeup. It was very creative makeup application. We followed this up with dinner. Dinner was okay. My uncle chose and it was eh. But the company was good.

Now? I'm done mostly packing the truck. And I'm about to hit the hay. I'm tired and have 11+ hours on the road tomorrow in order to make it to Christy's place. Good night, me friends!

    You probably ran into my husband's aunt - she works at Tinker Town - and lives next door! We go visit her there most times we're in Abq. I'm homesick reading this!

    Holy crap that burrito was huge! But boy did it look YUM :)

Q&A #2

Okay! I'm back.  I figured I needed to get a few more answered before all five kids invade this weekend!! I pick the girls up this afternoon after school and B's kids arrive tomorrow evening. So... on to Jaime's question. " What does your average 'ranch life' day look like?" Well, it's really not all that exciting most days...even though I love it and wish I could spend more of my time raising animals.  The winter is completely different than the summer, so I will give you both versions. Winter:  Right now the main work is the chickens and maintaining firewood prep.  The chickens have a coop and a closed in pen, but we let them out most days to roam the majority of the yard.  We currently have 37.  So every morning I let them out, check their grain, water, and see if they have laid any eggs yet.  This morning I picked up 5 before 9 a.m.  In the afternoons we spoil the birds completely.  Every day they get a pot of freshly cooked white rice an...

#insaneroadtrip day 17

Wow! It's amazing what happens when you sleep for 8 hours one night and 9 the next! You can cope with heat and humidity and sun and crowds and traffic. After enjoying a nice yummy breakfast (I had an omelet) we packed up the truck and headed out of Granny's place and off for the big city. We were meeting Thea at the Air & Space Museum and rode the metro in the north. The metro used to scare me, but not so much anymore. The maps are pretty too. We left T at a corner where he turned towards Starbucks to do homework and not hobble around in his boot. We went the opposite way towards l Air & Space.
