2011 - Day in the Life - week 30

Sunday - 7/24



Went went to get some gloves for me at Big 5 for Tough Mudder. 
I'm amused by the big chair.

Monday 7/25



The $3 shoes I found for The White Trash Bash.

Tuesday 7/26



Guess who I picked up at the airport? A very delirious Bari!

Wednesday 7/27



Bari and Sweet Pea made blueberry cobbler. It was delicious.

Thursday 7/28



An uneventful drive to Sacramento took us to The Melting Pot for a celebratory dinner. 
Beki had just finished taking the California bar exam. 
Ashley drove out too. We enjoyed our dinner and time together.

Friday 7/29



My first run longer than 6 miles since my last half marathon at the beginning of May. 
Bari and I went for 8 miles. It was good. A bit hot. Definitely sweaty. 
See the white line on my neck? Salt.



But thankfully I had hydrated well with my favorite running beverage.

You Capture - DOF

I loved this challenge.  I've been striving to find "the" depth of field picture that just speaks to me.  Luckily I had lots of opportunity this past weekend to find the pictures I wanted to.  On Saturday I boarded a bus to California's Amador County wine country and visited 4 different wineries with a friend. These were so bright and beautiful and simple. The colors!! Perfection! I took about 20 pictures of this door trying to get this perspective.  I love this one.  This was another one that was may favorite of about 20.   I think it's the burst of orange.   I can't wait to see all the beautiful pictures everyone else is going to post over at Beth's.

You Capture - Feet

So, my first thought was to take a picture of all the little feet in my house, from cats to dogs to kids.  And then I went on a little hike last Sunday as part of some prescribed quiet time.  It was lovely.  And it got me to thinking about where my feet tread in life. The reflection of my feet in the side of my truck after my run before my hike. I was planning on heading to a place I used to go in high school.  Right on the edge of town - less than 5 minutes from my house - there is a small area of rocks on the side of the mountain that I used to climb with a friend.  I wanted to sit on the top of those rocks and just listen to the silence.  And here is that spot.  Unfortunately, the people who live at the base of this hill obviously own the land up to the hill and put a fence al the way to the base of it.  So I drove up the dirt road a bit to the south of this spot and found a different spot.   Looking down at the town I grew up, it still lo...

You Capture - Best Shot

I suppose after two weeks of getting assignments and pictures that I *really* liked, it was time for me to struggle.  I wasn't taking any pictures that just spoke  to me.  But then again, it took me a long time to start taking pictures that I really liked. But I do have a couple that I think were my best for the week.  Hey, I've got an idea! Let me share them with you! This was taken on a hike the two older girls and I took last week.   And then we had our first harvest. One lone strawberry.  There are many more growing.  We are trying to keep the birds from nibbling on them before we get a chance to pick them.  Check out what other's thought was their best shot over at Beth's.
