Tell It To Me Tuesday - A letter

...to our Nation's daughters.  That was Jade's challenge this week.  I have to admit my first reaction was that this was going to be easy, I've got three of them living under my roof.  But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I didn't want to write something fluffy or silly just for the simple fact that I have three of them under my roof. So here goes nothing. Q&A #2

Okay! I'm back.  I figured I needed to get a few more answered before all five kids invade this weekend!! I pick the girls up this afternoon after school and B's kids arrive tomorrow evening. So... on to Jaime's question. " What does your average 'ranch life' day look like?" Well, it's really not all that exciting most days...even though I love it and wish I could spend more of my time raising animals.  The winter is completely different than the summer, so I will give you both versions. Winter:  Right now the main work is the chickens and maintaining firewood prep.  The chickens have a coop and a closed in pen, but we let them out most days to roam the majority of the yard.  We currently have 37.  So every morning I let them out, check their grain, water, and see if they have laid any eggs yet.  This morning I picked up 5 before 9 a.m.  In the afternoons we spoil the birds completely.  Every day they get a pot of freshly cooked white rice an...

2010 - A Day in the Life - week 4

Can you believe that we've already made it through January? Four full weeks of 2010 have passed.  And here are my pictures to prove it! January 24 The last light bulb finally blew out in our ugly retro chandelier. This is the replacement.  It is not the most beautiful fixture, but it is 150% better than the old one. January 25 Sass laid out her ski clothes anatomically the night before. (This is too cute! There is even the hat and scarf!) January 26 Can you say blizzard?  Sass is in front. Smarty Pants is right behind her. January 27 This may not seem very interesting, but if you know me -  the fact that you can see the top of the desk at all is pretty miraculous! January 28 Can you read the sweet note Sass left for me? "I wanted to thank you for being such a good mother by filling up the coco contianer!"
